Hey nice flag, I appreciate the medieval design with Assyrian symbols. Well done!

Let's say, theoretically, the Crusades went further into the Middle East & liberated the Assyrians from the Seljuk Turks & the Abbasid Caliphate. There, the Crusaders establish the Kingdom of Assyria to solidify the liberation of Assyrians from the Seljuks & Abbasids. So I created this flag for a fun little scenario where the Crusades were even more successful & reached to Mesopotamia.

Crusaders did reach Mesopotamia, Edessa(Urfa) was a crusader state in 12th century. Assyrians were still sizeable majority there, with Armenians.

True, but I meant further into Mesopotamia such as Nineveh & Babylon.

They did extend till Mardin at their peak. Look for County of Edessa for instance. Crusaders dumb tactics during 2nd crusade lead to end of Edessa to Assyrians.

Really? I actually didn't know that from looking at a map of the County of Edessa.

“As for the Christians, the discriminating poll tax under Muslim rule was lifted.”

“During the 12th and 13th centuries, the Latin states paved the way for a Syriac renaissance through the construction and design of many churches adorned with frescoes enriched with Syriac inscriptions. Inside the scriptoria (a section of a monastery where manuscripts were copied), illuminated Syriac books and monastic manuscripts were produced in abundance.”

‘The deep interaction between the Franks and the Syriac people can be reflected at its best through Syriac literature. In this regard, Michael the Great wrote that “the Syriac bishops and their priests enjoyed peace and tranquility during the time of the Crusaders. We had no troubles with the Franks as they deemed that all worshippers of the Cross were equal.”’

Fair enough. I decided to have fun with the County of Edessa by having it expand to reform Assyria.

I am too bro, I actually love this post you made so keep making more stuff. Make some maps or lore if you want to explore this particular time period. I would love to see what you come up with next.

PS don’t mind others who don’t approve, they just can’t think outside of the box and be creative. Take your talents and grow them stronger!
