ADVICE please help😭🙏

i was trying to connect my phone to the speaker in my shower, but when i rested it on a shelf in there, it fell and slid down to the end of the tub where a big puddle of water laid. i pulled it out as quick as i could and dried it off. it works just fine, i think, but it was at 4% when this happened so it is now dead. it wont charge and when it still had power it said there was water in the charging port so it couldn’t charge. it has been drying for a few hours and i will let it sit with the charging port facing down but i can’t check if it gives the water notification again because it has no more battery. i don’t have access to wireless charging right at this moment unless an apple watch charger will work. i have the iphone 15 if that makes any difference. please please help if anyone knows of anything i can do. thank you so much.

Hi all. This is an automated and general reminder to all that this post is an ADVICE post, not a Request. Please don't request, offer or accept financial or material assistance on this post.

u/the_real_drama_llama, we have compiled a Wiki with tons of advice and helpful information, which we recommend you check out, too.

When you get the charging port has water warning, that means charging has shut off for safety reasons. You can leave the charger in and nothing would happen until the port is dry.

So if it’s been five hours and the phone is now certainly dry, it’s safe to plug in the charger. If the phone is completely dead it may take a while to even see the display turn on, but it will. You’ll first see the battery icon with the red bottom and once it has charged to at least 5% the phone will boot up (with the Apple icon).

Put/cover the phone in dry rice for a day or 2 then retry!
