I am awed at how much help comes out of this sub. I complain about the ME ME ME world we live in but this sub adjusts my perspective, one help at a time. Glad you got the help you needed 🙂

There is nothing wrong with being emotional over having your needs met. I used to cry when it happened to me, too.

I only stopped because now I am able to help others a little.

I'm so happy to see this. Reminds me there's good people in this world if you ask <3

When I first started here, I got very frustrated but the same thing. A wise person (periwinkletweet) actually reminded me it's in the rules.. Ignore the down votes.

Do you know what I've learned about people here in reddit, but really on these help subs?

-if you ask for help, you get down voted.
- if you OFFER help, you get down voted.
-if you THANK people for helping, you get down voted.
-if you even post. You get down voted 😅

Nearly every day I get notices "your post got x up votes" only to find it significantly lower than x. First time, I thought reddit was bugged. Now I realize, that people are just salty.

People get mad because you are getting helped. People get mad because the person offering isn't helping them. People get mad because they don't have anyone to thank. People get mad because you posted.🤷🏽‍♀️

So remember a downvote is... what it is. It's unfortunately someone who hasn't been helped, for whatever reason, and they are mad. Hopefully they learn that the best way to get helped is simply put themselves in a better position to be assisted. (build karma authentically!)

Don't take it to heart. It's not about you. This, I promise. 🫶🏽 I'm very glad you got helped. This is an amazing place, even with a salt mine hiding nearby. 😉

And if you check OP previous post, looks like there’s no downvotes anymore. 👍🏻

I’m so happy you got the support you need.

And I’m sorry about the people who were unkind . There are a lot of strange people in this world who believe that somehow we should all just get through life alone and it’s a problem if you ever ask for help. Consider that these people are miserable because they are probably people who actually have some kind of privilege and are generally comfortable enough in life but instead of enjoying what they have or even helping others, they choose to go out of their way to come into this sub and downvote every single post or comment that is positive, and this happens almost immediately I noticed, it’s very weird behavior and only a miserable person would do this so just feel sorry for them and know that they aren’t happy with their lives if they have a heart like that.

i assume that or it’s someone bitter who hasn’t received assistance which is unfortunate but going around giving everyone a virtual thumbs down isn’t gonna help them. thanks for the kind words!

Damn yea could be that too smh they should realize doing that contributes to them not getting help

I offered a community resource and for downvotes 🤦🏻‍♀️ You just have to ignore it and when you can offset them by giving your upvote :)

Aw, that is so awesome. ❤️‍🩹 I have had some pretty discouraging experiences with asking for help on here before. I hope one day I can be helping people on the other side of things like they did for you.

u/cathbe Sep 01 '24

I’m sorry that happened to you. That’s terrible. It’s hard enough to ask.

8

u/downnoutwallflower Sep 01 '24

Thank you so much for that. It is definitely very difficult to ask, and hurts all that much more when met with negativity. No one is required to help another stranger out, just be kind and move along. 🥲

So true. I think people maybe forget that when you're in a vulnerable situation it's hard to ask and how much that reaction hurts. Good luck!! I'm sure you'll get there.

Thank you so so much!

How wonderful. I got some of the things I desperately needed as well…I cried. Happy tears of course to know that there are so many out there that care. God bless us all. Please, if you don’t believe, do not take offense. It is merely my highest wishes.
