THANK YOU Feeling overwhelmed

Yesterday a very kind Redditor donated the full amount to my gofundme so I can pay my bills. I’m still stunned about it and I just wanted to share how grateful and how blessed I feel in regards to the wonderful person donating that amount to a complete stranger. I have been through alot these past few years. Being a single mother with 0 help/support is hard and a little daunting at times. I have been feeling the lowest of the lows lately, so having that sort of help right now made me feel not as bad. Thank you for being so kind and generous. You have no idea how much that donation means to me.

That's so amazing, I'm a single father of 2 boys and it is not easy doing it all alone with rent being $2000+ plus groceries and other bills. It's such a blessing that there are people out here generous enough to help people in need, I wish I could hit the lottery and just pay peoples debt or help then have a break on rent.

For my mom, Id love to finally move her into a home and out of an apartment I've been helping since I was 16 and she had breast cancer god willing she went into remission but it's been a long, right ride. Everyone deserves a break sometime! Faith in humanity restored!

I've fought it twice since 2016. I'm exhausted and lost all savings/401k's etc. There's very little help out there! Bless you for helping her and everyone does deserve a break. Happy to hear she's in remission!

That’s amazing. Congrats. I am also a single mom. I have asked for help once here and got it. People are so amazing. I know how hard this life is right now. I hate having to tell my son no so much. His birthday is coming up this weekend and he told me I don’t have to get him anything because he knows I am struggling. He said he just wants to hang out with me. Such a sweet kid but breaks my heart he has to think that way. But he still loves me. And your kids love you!

So happy for you. This is such a great community. It makes me so happy to see so many people being kind and helping others🫶🏼♥️ one day I’ll get the courage to ask for some help. Been going thru a lot lately, mom going thru chemo and the amount of money it costs is outrageous and overwhelming. I just lost my grandpa and my niece is needing surgery. I could use some prayers yall 🙏🏼

So happy for you!!! It’s hard to struggle. We all gotta lift each other up and practice being happy for others, maybe a little envious, but not jealous

I feel the same! If I ever get in a better financially stable place in my life I want to start helping people. It’s rough out there

Absolutely and I know that will happen for you OP I was able to give back by giving someone my Taco Bell points it wasn’t much but it’s a lot to someone! Definitely kindness wins on this sub🫡💓💯

I also received help recently in an unexpected way(not on this sub), so I know how you feel. I just want to share the encouragement that I got with you: Things can easily get better, just have to be patient and understand that any bad things that happen will pass. How can you know for sure? Well, think back to every bad thing that has ever happened: It has always passed. It's just a memory now. Hope you continue to cultivate good things for yourself and your family, know that it's always possible to do with patience-- good luck to you.

You need to have 400 comment karma and 60 days of regular Reddit activity to post here, that's why.

I like being apart of a community where people actually help each other. It feels way more human

That's so nice.. but quick question .. if your gofundme was totally fulfilled.. why do you still have it up and accepting more than what you needed?

9

u/XYujix REGISTERED Jul 09 '24

I’m not accepting more than what I need. Gofundme takes a good chunk out of donations before they transfer funds to a persons bank account. Which takes up to 48 hours after verifying. Did you not know this?

It takes a bit for processing I believe and pulling a fundraiser during that period can cause problems.

It also can take awhile to update after disabling donations. If you disable it, it won’t allow anyone to donate but it will look like donations are still being accepted.
