Why is it that whenever America looks after their interests it’s bad? Any other country does it and it’s normal, but we’re profiting and not doing it out of good will
Mind you these people think China is doing their best to help Africa and has no bad intentions behind it

“Smartest American” I’d see that as compliment, we did help them rebuild after ww2.
Too many people think the Soviets did all the work, so, I wouldn’t expect that idiot to know anything about history.
“You’re all stupid!” Is getting so fucking tiring. They say it for EVERYTHING now.

Berlin airlift dunks all over the myth that the Soviets did anything to rebuild or help europe. What a masterclass of logistics and a giant middle finger to the Soviets.

I don’t think Europeans believe that the Soviets helped them as such. But the soviets bore the brunt of Germany’s army and eventually turned the tide. They were instrumental in the fall of Hitler because of this.

There are accusations that China bugged the African Union building that it was paid to build.
They really do not seem to be very honest.

Nobody was required to pay back the Marshall Plan except to cover admin costs. The US spent 10% of its federal budget on it and almost 3% of the national GDP at the time. They "paid us back" by importing US goods which couldn't be produced in Europe at the time. The US didn't have to do any of that for a war it didn't start nor want to be in until our boats were touched.

I think there is often confusion between the Marshall plan and the Anglo-American loan I think. The loan, quite reasonably had to be paid back but was partly a consequence of the Marshall Plan.

World War II as a "profit on war"?
Like dude, Europe fucking started it for the second time that century and we came in to mop up the fucking mess.
Definitely could've let Europe starve but we damn well know there'd been WWIII in the mid-1970s lol
