I like how these people always leave out Japan, Singapore, and South Korea when talking about the death penalty. All of those are considered civilized and developed as far as I know (not sure about Singapore since it's super authoritarian).

Which I still don't get. I like anime, I've cosplayed and all that. Japan is cool. It has a nasty history and serious social issues just like anywhere else. Not to mention the racism and xenophobia there, sometimes against their own people from a different area.
