That subreddit is absolute trash if this post is the type of shit that gets upvoted. It’s basically saying, “All you have to do to cure your depression is not be sad anymore! Just think happy thoughts!”
How about you take your happy thoughts and go fuck yourself.

Yeah it’s not great. I do like something like this to interrupt my negative thought spiral if I can’t on my own. Like can I think of one thing today that made me even slightly happy? Ok then it wasn’t an absolute loss of a day. Observation bias is real, so I get the intent. Most bad days are not total losses and most shitty situations don’t have to ruin an entire day, even though they can.

Perhaps, but I also want to send this to my mother and tell her maybe to stop thinking about being mad so she won't find as many reasons to be mad. But then again I also want to live so maybe not.

I'm sorry, but I really hate the pessimism in the ADHD community. I think most if not all of us have medical care and take medication, but a lot of the work has to be done at home by yourself too. I remember my psychiatrist telling me to start exercising, going to therapy and taking care of my social life besides taking meds. Having ADHD is not a death sentence and should not be treated as such. The way you think about yourself and about your life has a lot of importance in how you deal with a disorder.

I take issue with how you imply that many people with mental illnesses simply don’t want to take the effort to develop coping mechanisms to deal with their illness and would rather wallow in self-pity. The reality is that it’s an ongoing challenge that each person deals with in their own way and at their own pace, and there is no shame in feeling sad, venting frustrations, etc.
The point of my comment was criticizing how many neurotypicals simply reduce their arguments to useless platitudes like “jUsT gO tO tHe gYm, bRo.” r/ThanksImCured

I'm not implying that simple motivational cliché phrases are the cure to any type of mental disorder. As a child/teenager, I've had people (including therapists) putting the blame on me for my lack of self responsability and impulse control, which was one of the factors that contributed to my low self esteem and depression. It's not my intention to place blame on anybody. Sometimes neurotypical people go through burnouts and depressive episodes that can cause them to lose the ability to care after themselves and it's not their fault either. I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as "lazy" people and that's just a word used to shame people dealing with mental illness or people who genuinely need to take a rest. What I mean is that the way we individually view the world is important too. Imagine being a person recently diagnosed with ADHD scrolling through this subreddit and only seeing comments that are basically implying that there's nothing a person can do to get better. That must suck a lot. We are not doomed. We are capable of getting better and developing coping mechanisms.

That’s the yellow game! Busses and work trucks don’t count! Truly Nolan vans are worth 2 points! Last person who called it gets to ride shotgun!
