7
u/KittyGrewAMoustache Aug 20 '24
I don’t know if this is how most people feel but I noticed that when I see a Tesla I now associate it with being shoddy and a scam or something. It’s like just a gut reaction that advertisers want you not to feel about a product. I remember they used to seem cool and like a high quality car for fancy people. Bear in mind I know nothing about cars, these are just impressions I feel from having absorbed general news and information in society for years without ever having deliberately thought about Tesla cars or knowing much about them. Kind of like if I see a Bentley I have an instant idea in my head of some really rich posh guy with a British accent who wears tweed and has serious conversations. Or if I see a Mini I think of a young woman who chews gum and high five’s people on her way to her desk at work where she does some sort of computer programming. Or a BMW makes me think of a guy with gelled hair who works in sales and wears pale pink shirts and brogues and tries to surreptitiously slip his hand down the back of women’s pants if they’re sitting next to him at dinner. A Tesla makes me think of someone who spends ages on the phone to customer service while kicking it for not working and then a plastic panel falls off.

Conservative positions about "government bloat" have nothing to actually do with government bloat or efficiency. As illustrated by their constant stream of policies that consistently raise the federal deficit while making the government even more inefficient and bad at what it is supposed to do.
When some rich fuck or the people parroting said rich fucks say "The government is too bloated" they mean "The departments that handle regulation are too strong". The entire idea of a "Department of Efficiency" as Elon and Trump describe it is basically just a federal union busting department to make sure all the corporate serfs stay in their place and that federal regulators have as little power as possible. None at all if people like Musk's dreams came true.
The FTC, SEC, IRS, FDA, etc. are all direct enemies of people like this because they all stop them from making more money at the expense of everyone else. They fucking hate these things and near all of them were born out of a need to reel the exact kind of robber baron asshole that they want to return to functioning as.

It would take you underground and put you on a car for your car and it would railroad you to another location (TRAINS). This was his plan to "fix traffic". Dude under sold on his promises and ended up making a closed loop with Tesla cars that automatically go around in a loop (TRAINS). He paid way too much for twitter, and he tried to back out of it and then got forced into it.
