I've contacted 2 famous gaming Youtube channels that go against these kind of pratices from gaming companys (TotalBiscuit and The Jimquisition).
This is the message I sent them through Yotube:
"Hello Jim/John. I've been a fan of your work for some years now and I know you stand for consumer rights above all.
I come from a community on reddit from a game called One Piece Treasure Cruise for mobile made by Bandai Namco.
It's a Free 2 Play game with a "gacha" pull system where you can spend money to get powerfull characters, a luck based system (I'm sure you know these type of japanese games called gacha games).
Recently we have discovered that Bandai Namco manipulates the rates of the characters you can pull without informing absolutely anyone about it, they decrease on purpose the odds for you to get the best characters on events where they are supposed to be rate boosted.
Futhermore we have reasons to believe that they have a system in place where the more money you spend/more pulls you make, the less chances you have to get good characters in order to force you to pull more.
Please check this reddit topic if you can
and read exactly what's going on.
We just want to be treated with the same respect and transparency that OPTC Japan has, (Japan has a law that forces all gacha type games to display the rates of every character you can pull on events, so they have way better rates) in the US and Europe there's no law so Bandai Namco does whatever they want.
Please help us if you can spreading this movement and stop this anti-consumer practices. Thank you."
English is not my first language, but I think they will understand the basics of what's going on and understand the rest after reading the reddit topic.
What do you guys think? Maybe I should contact them through other social media? Will they even read what I've wrote?

Keep in mind that most of these places might not give a damn about this, but if any of them decide to run with the story, this could be big. Remember to be civil, respectful, and understanding when contacting any of these groups/organizations.
Know that the person you are speaking with may not have ever played a gacha game, or even a mobile game. The situation needs to be explained in terms that someone who has no idea what this game is can understand. Some things that can be touched on:
- A gacha system is gambling.
- You gamble by buying a digital currency (gems) with real-world money, much like you would buy chips or tokens at a casino
- This digital currency is used to pay for a chance to unlock new features/characters within the game
- The rates of success for these pulls are not disclosed anywhere by the game's creator, Bandai Namco Entertainment
- A separate version of the same game released in the company's home country of Japan does disclose these rates due to new laws in the eastern market.
- The rates disclosed in the Japanese version of the game are not the same as the rates in the Global version.
- It has been discovered that Bandai is manipulating these chances individually on a per-character, and possibly per-player basis (linking to /u/heathtech's thread would be a good idea)
- This is incredibly unethical and predatory towards Bandai's player base, a significant portion of which are children

If they do consider it gambling, wouldn't the game have to have an age restriction in the states?

u/StNowhere Surf Clam Pirates - 53 Legends Sep 23 '17
Most likely, and it isn't legally considered gambling yet. But let's not kid ourselves, we're spending money to have a chance at winning a prize. It's gambling.

I received an interesting reply from Bandai. After getting the standard non-reply reply from them (global ≠ japan, rare recruits are pulled at a fixed rate, yada yada yada), I replied with this:
I am very disappointed in your reply. It really shows you do not care and just reply with pre approved text snippets instead of thought.
I acknowledge global and Japan are two different games. I used it as an example to show you are deliberately misleading players.
I cannot refer to "official" announcements if they cannot be trusted. You cannot be trusted right now.
We can start simple. Rates are fixed for all players. This is not informative. Let's try straight forward question: if a collection of units are "rated up", are they rated up equally? (Assuming all are the same rarity). Per your "official announcement", this is implied.
I hope a real person answers this and addresses the concerns, and that I do not receive the same unhelpful generalized replies.
This was the reply I got. Emphasis added.
Regarding your inquiry, we regret to inform you that we are unable to disclose the specific probabilities for characters that can be obtained from [Rare Recruit].
We also know that what you are requesting is what most players want, and we want to assure you that we have already informed the appropriate department about it.
As we have previously mentioned, all we could do right is to request for our players' patience and understanding as we continue to work on meeting everyone's expectations.
It seems, at a minimum, they are at least hearing us.

"Continue to work on meeting everyone's expectiations." I hope they will bring every single bonus the JPN version has to Global 'cause basically that's what everyone expects.
Anyway atleast something is happening. It's a snail pace but it is still happening. I just hope equality in terms of bonus between the two versions. I'm not saying release the same new stuff in the same time on both versions. Just don't forget Global.

- This megathread
- Facebook - All relevant pages
- Twitter - Bandai main twitter account and OPTC and the mobile games manager, whatever her name was
- People who criticize developer practices and are popular on youtube, like Yongyea or JimSterling or TotalBuiscuit or even people like Dunkey, just sending a kit so they can build something off of it helps

Niceeeeee. Heres what I said in one of those posts. Relevant and could hopefully help to organize our thoughts and plans.
First step: hit front page on reddit
Someone should probably post healthtech's data as well as a post calling people to arms about how Bandai has been screwing us over. Post it to Dokkan, BBS, Naruto, One Piece, literally any and all subreddits that are in some form related to the game and its parent company.
However it needs be written properly. Without sounding biased, and without sounding like a salty player complaining about losing and all the other excuses people throw.
Make sure the data is relevant and appears directly after the points being stated in the argument. For example:
If you bring up RNG, people will immediately say "well that's RNG for ya".
If you bring up crap rates, people will say "well if you knew the rates were low, why bother?"
But if you link the relevant data and info right after mentioning the point, it will seem less biased, and more of a valid argument.
Think of it like a research paper. Gotta do it right and legit and can't sound biased. State facts and show your proof and citations to back it up. Otherwise it will just come off like a biased complaint and will be brushed off.
Second Step: Start a petition. Theres a website that lets you make one. Make your point short and concise and include the data and you'll get more signatures with less hassle.
Third Step: Bring in the big names and streamers like Zeenigami, and the others that I can't remember the names of exactly. But don't just have the Global streamers, that would sound biased. If anything include the Japanese streamers as well. They'll be more likely to be heard because they're playing on the version that appeals to more people that will have a bigger impact. If Global is the only one being screwed, and only Global is complaining, its Bandai's word over ours. If you get the entire playerbase and their big names in on it, then it shows solidarity that the entire community doesn't think its right.
Importantly, be sure to include links to the data and the petition in the initial post. It will just become a huge mess if there's a million different posts about all these things and will just get swept under the rug for spamming subreddits.
Post it to GTAV and Dokkan's subreddit and say we're trying to do what they managed to pull off and need help.
Post it to r/gaming and all other video game related subs and hope to christ the upvotes add up to make the front page.
Hell create a god damn subreddit to further organize the posts, data, and info and add the link to the sub in the post and just cross post and whatnot to make sure all of the posts link to the main post.
Heres a template for the post that would be canvased across the subreddits:
(Dont actually use this, since im literally just bullshitting an example)
"Hello r/ ____, as an enthusiast of (whatever the sub you decide to post in is), I'm sure you can all appreciate and relate to the feeling of being screwed by (game's company) and wanting to make a difference. As you all know lootcrates are becoming an issue resembling gambling, Gacha games are the exact same thing, etc etc etc. State your case, provide examples. Provide data and info, etc.
If you don't mind taking the time to go to this sub/post (link sub or main flagship post) and reading the info we have acquired, it would be appreciated. If you feel moved or appreciate the effort and what it stands for, we also have a petition linked in the post for signatures.
If you further want to support the cause, feel free to repost this post you are reading to any related subreddits that involve loot crates, gacha, or any form of freemium games that basically involve a form of gambling one way or another.
Thank you for your time.
Its as simple as that and if there's enough people who feel for this cause (and there probably will be considering how many people are getting pissed about freemium game structures are leaking into actual video games with loot crates and all that), then the upvotes and reposts could potentially lead to the front page and even whatever news websites (legit or clickbait, doesnt matter), gets their ideas from Reddit and bam. Attention received.
Its just a matter of organizing it and actually getting support. This sub is divided can be toxic as all hell sometimes, and its shit like that that makes anything we want to change end up being swept under the rug.
It doesn't matter if it doesn't affect you cause you're on a different server or version, show some solidarity in the fact you're all playing the same game, but that a lot of the players are not getting what they were told because the company itself isn't treating them the same. This isn't about content. Nor is it about permanent skill up, movie raids, or any of the meme-worthy things shitposted about. This is about a company exploiting the gambling vice many people have by manipulating individual unit rates and the players themselves depending on their volume of play.
"Rates are different for high volume players" alone should cause enough of a shit storm because that affects everybody. They're literally shifting rates on a per player basis here. You play nonstop hours at a time every day? Cool you can buy gems and get shit pulls, you'll keep playing anyway. You buy gems and do a multi every sugo? Even better, your rates will be lowered cause you'll just keep doing it anyway, we already hooked you in and youre already addicted. Oh wait, you play every now and then on natural stamina and haven't bought gems yet? We'll give you a legend to unleash that endorphin rush and get you to irrationally buy more gems and keep pulling, and oh btw, we lowered your rates again.
Lmfao my bad for the rant. But my point stands. Lets work together and be the change we want people. Solidarity.

I just tweeted Toadski and asked him whether he could do a seperate video regarding that topic. With almost 20k subs, he has a huge audience. Since he is affected himself, I'm sure he's gonna support the community. Will edit this post once he got back to me.
Edit 1: I also reached out to TheVerge, a multimedia for technology in the United States and pitched the story. They have a massive audience. Will edit again if they happen to get back to me.
Edit 2: Tweeted Rhymestyle and Nanogenix as well. They play Dokkan mostly, but since Bandai owns them all, the two might be interested in the story.
Edit 3: Toadski just got back to me saying, I quote "@Toadskii: @xmanianx I have been looking into this and honestly I’m waiting for a little more info as to how these rates were compiled. If there was solid proof then I would greatly consider a video discussing this." Maybe we can bring heathtech into the conversation here?
Edit 4: Boris is going to upload a video shortly addressing the controversy.

I saw Boris video and I was disappointed... Wait for the legend after 3. Multipull or switch to Japan... But what should be expected from a japan player, Who dumped his global account? Also the comments from Japan players... Instead of Support they also just say "Switch, because global is shit". That is unfair for all players who invested a lot of time in their accounts!

For Japan Version Players it's an easy say, because they don't have this issue. They don't have to start again, grind again. Dumping my Account would be like burning the Going Merry again. Never! Before that I just quit completely. And I "just" have an 606 Day Account

I can relate to your argument. However, Boris definitely made a good point in his video by saying we have to wait it out. In more direct terms, this means that noone, from big whales to occasional p2ps, should spend any money in the game until we get what we demand > more transparency. He could have stressed this a little better, I agree on that. There is nothing that hurts Bandai's Treasure Cruise department more than plummeting profit.

I respect your passion but unfortunately there is no way this news could gain the kind of traction you want it to on reddit overall. The game doesn’t have a large enough fanbase, and a VERY small amount of people who don’t play would care. A more reasonable solution is to spread it to everyone who does play and convince them to stop playing entirely or stop giving Bandai money.
3
u/FlashCamm Promising Rookie Sep 23 '17
Regardless I do believe it has the potential to gain the kind of attention that people would want it to. Even if it didn't make it as a super huge story via known news outlets, as long as the community of OPTC global players are very aware, then that's what could have the impact on the company and I would bet they'd change their practice if they knew a real problem was going to arise. If it's aimed high enough then that could be what raises our group of players right where we feel like we deserve to be. Justice should supersede the thought that someone would fail, one man is no man; create a movement people believe in and reach your destination

Somebody call Jim Fucking Sterling Son!!
Nobody stirs the pot like him.
Kinda kidding but really not. If there was some way to get him to do a Jimquisition about this it would get the kind of exposure we are looking for.
Also besides taking to the streets of Reddit, we should also march our crusade onto Twitter and Facebook.
I believe that legislation will come to all these gacha games and games featuring Loot boxes but we still have a long road ahead of us to make this happen. We need to make sure that our mile of that road is paved with solid and indisputable information that helps support and highlights our claims of predatory criminal business ethics being perpetrated by these parent companies.
For all of the players in the USA reading this, I urge you to reach out to your Congressman and draw their attention to this issue. As I stated, legislation IS coming eventually. It is our responsibility as the community to get involved and help shape the form of said legislative law or we have no right to complain. Just like electoral voting systems, stand up and let your voice be properly heard.
Sorry for the rant but this seems like the place for it.

This message is gaining some headway on Facebook. I don't know if it'll be useful as a stock message, but perhaps you can edit it to your satisfaction?
"Ever think your pulls were rigged? Turns out, they are: Incriminating Sugo Research from OPTC's subreddit, courtesy of user heathtech, presented for your judgement. Data was analyzed by user Koryuken. Spread the word, Global users:
1) Legends are NOT boosted by the current banner's class and/or color boost. 2) Outside of the three featured legends, most red posters had a 1.56% of being pulled. 3) Bamco manually sets rates for individual characters (including junk characters) 4) Newly Released Legends get an automatic nerf to their rates. 5) These [rare recruit pull rates] may not reflect those adjusted for high volume players; "if you spend a lot of money on pulls, your rates will be nerfed further, making the units harder to get..."
I personally will not be buying gems anymore. Perhaps you should do the same? Speak with your wallet."

Email adress: take either a junk one or a spare one
Type of inquiry: Opinion/ Request
Put a 1 or (it doesn't matter) so in every field with a star, except in Question
Question: The rates on global are worse than what you try to make us believe. We've gathered data that proves that not only you're lying about the rates, but that you take a certain unknown player variable that determines what the player gets from the pulls, thus punishing active and paying players with less than less active and more casual players. Enough proof has be gathered which is strenghtening our assumption. We have to believe, until you prove us wrong by being as transparent as you're on japan, that the rates you claim to offer are simply wrong. We simply have no transparency and based on our gathered data there is no reason to believe you as a company anymore, thus we lost our faith in you as an honest company. We feel like we're taking advantage of. We as a community expect your statement.

As a basically f2p (only bought the 3 10 gems + free pull packs), I can let go the different treatment between jpn and glb, I can let go the way worse rates on legends and the "weird" order of content release.
But I cannot accept the fact that two units of the same rarity, released in the same batch, have so different rates. I mean, Carrot 3% while Kanjuro 0.8%? And the latter should have been banner boosted! At least let me know beforehand!
Same thing for legends, no wonder last 3 were old dupes and my most recently released one is PSY Law, if we have 7 times more chances to pull every "first gen" legend rather than Inuarashi. This is simply unacceptable, I don't think I'll pull again without having the exact rates.

Based on the boilerplate response from Bandai with no follow up action, we must reunite as a community to have our voice heard. I have drafted the following message and plan to submit to the Better Business Bureau and California Attorney General's office over the weekend.
Compliant against BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. 2051 Mission College Blvd Santa Clara, CA 95054
One Piece Treasure Cruise is a freemium mobile game based on a largely popular Japanese comic series One Piece which enjoys global notoriety. There are multiple variants of the game available globally with the main differences being language and content availability. The more prominent versions of the game are the Japanese version and the English version. Other versions available are French, Korean and Taiwanese. The look and feel, mechanics and overall game play is largely the same.
The game is based on players obtaining characters based on the comic series and there are 2 methods to obtain these characters. The “free” route in obtaining characters is to clear content of the game, but the characters obtained are usually less appealing being less useful in clearing future contents due to having lower attributes. The paid route in obtaining characters is to purchase gem stones as virtual currencies to exchange for pulls to obtain more rare but much more appealing characters. A pull operates like a slot machine where the best characters are considered jackpots and are extremely rare to obtain. Each pull costs 5 virtual gems stones and each gem stone cost between $0.99 to $0.64 depending on the purchase volume. This means that each pull would cost approximate $3.25 to $5.00, which is quite significant. Some users have reported spending spending thousands of dollars every month on hundreds of pulls in the hope to obtain extremely rare “jackpot” characters. Based on user gathered data, it is observed that the probability or percent for users to obtain jackpot characters differs significantly between the Japanese and English version of the game, which is approximately 7% for the Japanese variant and 2% for the English variant. Furthermore, in the Japanese version, the game developer Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. publicize the rates with transparency. In contrast, the pull rates for the English version of the game is gathered with user collected data. While this practices may not be well received by English variant game players, it is not illegal by any means. However, Bandai Namco violates the consumer protection law when there is false advertisement.
During the recent Cat Viper character pulling advertisement, Bandai Namco advertised increased rates on certain highly desirable characters that are considered as jackpot characters so game players expected high probabilities in obtaining them. However, user gathered data shows that not only did Bandai Namco not increase the rates on said characters, the rates were actually reduced. Many players reported spending large sums of money on pulls but received limited jackpot characters. Though anecdotal, one player reportedly spent thousands of dollars before pulling a rated up character. Based on the guideline published by the Federal Trade Commission, this is a deceptive marketing practice and is a bait and switch violation .
To rectify the situation. I am seeking 1). Bandai Namco to publicize pull rate information for every future pulling event in order to provide transparency to its English game variant game players. 2). Refund the money spent on the Cat Viper pulling event to its English game variant players.
Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Apparently Bandai doesnt give any rats about BBB. There are currently 4 outstanding complaints against Bandai dated Jan to June of 2017 and Bandai failed to address them. Bandai's current BBB rating is "F".

You guys definitely have my support, especially since I know this sort of stuff wouldn't fly for long on my other mobile games (FGO, LLSIF, Fire Emblem Heroes, etc.)
I'll see if I can help you guys out with the Tales of Link subreddit, too, since that's another Bandai Namco mobile game. Come to think of it, there's plenty of other mobile games that Bandai's in charge of -- Idolmaster Cinderella Girls is an example of one, too. I'll see if I can't get help on my other subreddits about this.

Official Bandai Reply to my Inquiry
Thank you for playing ONE PIECE Treasure Cruise.
We truly apologize for the inconvenience.
We want you to know that we understand your frustration; however, please be informed that obtaining characters from [Rare Recruit] or [Sugo-Fest] is based on probability. Thus, there is a possibility for you to not obtain the character that you are expecting.
In addition, please be advised that these rates are equal and fixed for all players to promote fairness in the game. Furthermore, the probability of obtaining characters is not affected by any variables.
Considering the above, we regret to inform you that we are unable to cancel any purchases nor return [Rainbow Gems] that were used in the game. We are truly sorry about this.
Moreover, we highly recommend our players to only refer to official announcements and notices about the game. Kindly note that we discourage the spreading of false information.
Lastly, please be advised that the Japanese and Global versions of the game are different from each other. Nonetheless, rest assured that we will consider our players' request for the improvement of the overall experienced offered by the game.
Again, we are truly sorry for the trouble, and we hope for your kind understanding about the matter.

Pretty generic default answer. I'm just not sure, how to thinks about it. Looks like there is no penalty for whales, but who knows, may be just a lie, seeing the gathered data from the their revent contributions regarding this topic.
Edit: with the announcment of the coming God Usopp Sugo, it may also be possible, that the mentioned player based variable ist just used to determine the number of multipulls a player made, to give him the guaranteed legends. With a second thought, I doubt, that Bandai would lie in an official reply, that would be illegal, no matter what and could lead to legal actions against them.

Bandai censors their facebook page. Under another account I posted some rates of legends this sugo. That comment has been deleted from the facebook posts. This is getting more shady by the day.

I have got a new email from bandai. Anyway, I suggest to stay strong, avoid to pull during sugos and keep spamming their fb page whenever they open a sugo post. This is what I'll be doing. Here's the email:
Hello,
We are the ONE PIECE Treasure Cruise Team.
Thank you very much for getting back to us.
Regarding your concern, kindly note that we have already forwarded your feedback to the appropriate department.
We ask for your patience and understanding about the matter.
Lastly, if you have other inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to us again.
Thank you very much for your continued support.

So I read heathtech's post, but I am confused to where he got his rates. I am not sure, I might have missed where he stated how he got his numbers, but did he just get it from compiling what people said in the multi-pull mega thread? Or did he get the rates from Bandai?
11
u/pesaher Sep 23 '17
Somehow (and we shouldn't dig much deeper) he's gotten the true rates from the servers. He's also gotten the cotton candies formula, the ship upgrade rates, the low-cost rankings formula and some other things
8
u/Iaragnyl Sep 23 '17
Out of interest, how do people know his rates are the true rates? So far he is the only one to post those rates, there is no way to verify them unless he tells more about how he got them, but somehow almost everyone believes those rates are correct without even considering they might be wrong.
19
u/pesaher Sep 23 '17
Up until now, the formulas he's given us have been consistent. The cotton candy one is consistent with tests I've run, the low-cost rankings one is also accurate. Plus, and this is on a more personal note, he uses the correct in-game name of the units in his Sugo-Fest posts, which is difficult (the database doesn't update Global names) unless you keep track of them (I do, to update the DB) or you have them in front of you

I have a conspiracy that he/she might be the one behind 711 and got fired for it. His apparent love for this community really matches up.
7
Sep 23 '17
I don't agree with the "we shouldn't dig much deeper". A Reddit account doesn't give away who he is.
I think knowing the source of the info is important.
My guess is his reverse engineering got him the address where the request are made and he simulated thousands of call.
8
u/pesaher Sep 23 '17
My reasons for not digging deeper are mainly 3:
- He could be an employee. It's difficult, and it doesn't seem to be the case, but it could happen.
- If he discloses how he got the info, his OPTC account could be banned (again, maybe, and assuming Bandai found out and tracked the calls to his account)
- If Bandai gets to know the method, there's a chance they can "patch" it

This is the time to stay toghether and fight for our rights. The addition of the "3 pull= garanteed red" and the improve on the starting rainbow gem (now 50 instead of 5) is a sign that yes, ladies and gentleman, our opinion DOES MATTERS. That mailing bandai and rating the game CAN DO SOMETHING. We are customers, and we have our rights. Now is the time to make our voice loud and clear, and ask for equity between jap and global.

Since hearing about the rates, the game hasn't been the same for me. The most valuable 'treasure' in treasure cruise, for me, has always been rare units. Those red wanted posters. But since knowing how dreadful the rates are, it feels like saving up just isn't worth it because I know the odds of me actually getting decent units is so low. I realised something had changed when I got a stamina meat from a snail this morning and actually felt annoyed that I'd have to spend more time playing.
Here's a song that sums up my feelings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p6OH7FoWoQ

With the new Lucci sugo being announced today, I just want to emphasize the importance of not spending a dime & not pulling in this garbage sugo. 450 gems for guaranteed red. Bulls$it! Bandai obviously does not feel our outrage and dissatisfaction for the global pull rates warrant any action and will continue to implement their same shady tactics until they see a reason to change. Change for this game we all love can only be achieved if we all support each other as a unified community and stay strong in boycotting the current state of OPTC GLB.
Hold the line everyone & believe change CAN and WILL happen!!

I just sent this message to bamco I tried being very tactful and polite, encouraging them to engage us rather than accusing them. Feel free to use similar messages if you want:
There is a growing concern with mounting evidence that Bandai Namco is misleading the players of One Piece Treasure Cruise about the rates to pull characters in Sugofests. This is eroding trust in the community, eroding the ratings on the app store and google play, and will likely erode the number of people spending money on gems in the game.
Bandai Namco needs to be proactive, honest, and not be dismissive of requests for engagement by the company with the player base.
Please take the time to engage the community, be specific and again, do not be dismissive of the community's concerns about the game.
We understand this is not the same game as the Japanese version, however, there are practices which, if true, are very shady and discouraging. For example, new characters not receiving the same rate boost during a sugofest, with characters that match the class boosted in the sugofest even having a lower chance than ones with a different class. This is just an example, and responses so far have done little to sway fears with the community. Please make a dedicated outreach effort, soon.
Thank you

I usually stick through all Global throw at us, but this one is too much to me, I don't really have anything to defend global this time around. I'm jumping ship to JP and not buy gems since this is still bandai after all. Kinda funny and sad at the same time we have come to this.
7
u/planson Sep 23 '17
May not be relevant, but /r/DBZDokkanBattle had an AMA with a Bandai Social Media Manager for global here.
What u/Th3LaughingMan, the top comment in that post, was able to prove was that the pull rates, most notably on the global Buuhan banner 8 months ago, fluctuated. In this case, the chance to pull the new feature unit decreased over time. [He has done Dokkan pull rates for a long time and still does them today for global and Japan]
Global has improved since then, but I remember that banner being a turning point in being aware of pull rate manipulation.
I only play the Japan version of Dokkan so I didn't experience it.
3
u/Aomirai Sep 24 '17
This is quite interesting and a lot of comments are saying that after this AMA they started posting the rates on JP.
I just want to point out, by looking at the date, that this is around the exact time OPTC JP started to post their rates as apparently laws were cracking down in Japan that required them to do so.
So unfortunately this AMA might not have had an effect on JPN Dokkan but if GLB Dokkan improved after this then it is very relevant.

Just posted my 1* review on the App Store in support for change for our glb version.
Loyal player for 386 days
This is a temporary review in protest to the complete disregard Bandai Namco has for fairness and equality between the GLB version and others.
This game company needs to give the global optc community/player base the respect it deserves for the years of good reviews and high player counts. A lot of the optc community loves this game, and have stood by it for years, but changes need to be made.
Rates need to be released for any rate recruit characters for each sugofest.
Global needs to catch up to the insanely good events being done over in the Japan version, such as 3rd multipull reds and 20th anniversary events.
Equality in general. Make each version of the game the same. Why do they have to be so vastly different in terms of fairness and respect.
And with this review I for further notice will do a number of things to support the community's protest and help to try and bring a change to this game.
No more buying gems No more rare recruit pulls Will keep this 1* review Will help spread the word about the misdeeds brought towards this version of the game
I hope this review brings attention to the need for change and helps you in deciding whether to play this game or not

Email adress: take either a junk one or a spare one
Type of inquiry: Opinion/ Request
Put a 1 or so in every field with a star, except in Question
Question: The rates on global are worse than what you try to make us believe. We've gathered data that proves that not only you're lying about the rates, but that you take a certain unknown player variable that determines what the player gets from the pulls, thus punishing active and paying players with less than less active and more casual players. Enough proof has been gathered which is strenghtening our assumption.

Seeing how they "might" be changing pull rates based on certain parameters got me thinking about what if they do the same thing with other different probabilities this game is full of like skill-ups or legend skillbook drops, etc.
I know I'm being paranoid but I don't really like the possibility that I might be getting a worse treatment based on how much I play the game or whatever variable they decide to use.
6
u/TheHoneyDuke Sep 23 '17
I have felt this way so often but no way to know. Maybe it's true that if you have the character the rate of getting the book decreases lol. Who really knows
3
u/bbatardo Promising Rookie Sep 23 '17
Pretty sure it's true. I always get skillbooks for characters I don't own way more than any I own.
3
u/Majukun flair? Sep 23 '17
well if it's there it's not in a way that it's measurable. the rate is supposed to be between 1/10 and 1(9 normally and between 1/5 and 1/4 under skillup event, and that's more or less what is the average. Of coruse there's the guy that it's gonna get nothing and the one that maxes with 20 copies, but according to the skillup thread the rates seems to always fluctuate between 20 and 25%..which coincide with the known rates.
sockets though might be something worth investigating, like how often you get the shitty variety compared to the usual golden 6
2
u/Calalive Sep 23 '17
Yes but those are averaged, we don't discriminate between units while doing the calculations. Now that we now that they might be changing individual values, how do we know they don't give Akainu a lower chance than Bellemere?
How do we know they don't lower the drop rates of certain skillbooks for those players who own those characters, or like, lower the drop rate after a certain number of runs to give false hope.
I mean, 2 days ago I would have called myself crazy for saying this but now I'm not so sure.

I feel like one thing that might be worth focusing on is trying to get apple/google to implement policies for these kinds of games in their app stores.... It seems far more likely to have an effect than trying to get laws passed or bamco just making changes directly on their end.
I'm not sure what the best method of communication is... I know on google play you can report apps for certain types of behaviors, in this case you could possibly put it under gambling or deceptive practices perhaps.

You know, I took a hiatus on this game after continuing to dump so much money into this game and getting jack shit for it at times. I thought, maybe my luck is just bad and I should come back later when it's better. It also sucked that I kept pulling mostly old legends (I wouldn't complain I suppose since it's better than nothing, but it would be nice to have had something newer and more meta to fuck around with).
Then I come back to this subreddit and check to see what's up with this game and now I fucking know why my luck was so shit. Fuck Bandai, I wish I had my money back if I had known their rates were this predatory. Take it from someone who has put in a reasonable amount of money into this game, this shit is absolutely fucking true and disgusting.

The only things Bandai has done is give generic answers (that we all know) to any inquiries anybody makes in their support page, they deleted another user's Facebook post regarding the rates in OPTC's official Facebook page, and removed the files that Heathtech used to get the information of rare recruit rates. But other than that nothing has happened which is why I believe that Bandai is trying to shove this entire situation under the rug and let players forget about the true rates. Which is sad to say but it is slowly succeeding especially with the playerbase divided on the matter, players losing hope/will to fight, several players have jumped to the JPN version, and whales are still spending money on the game.

i wish i would have kept track of my sugo pulls. i did 16 mp and did not get any of the rate up legends. i did get 8 reds with 2 being the 11th. the 2 11th posters were corazon and rayleigh. overall this was the second worse sugo for me with the worst being choose your legend.

You should restrain from doing mass amount of pulls until this problem is addressed by bandai. It's your choice though friend.

It is a shame but there are other ways to support , emails through YouTube, companies , Facebook , Twitters . Everywhere keep spreading the flame

I have started a Google Docs to send a concise report on the practices that not only happen in OPTC but other Games as well. Here is the link if anyone wants and you can freely edit:

If you want to help make more of an impact, give the reviews that share your opinion a thumbs up. The more people who show support the more likely the are to notice.

I created a short link to this thread: http://bit.ly/optc-future
If everyone on this reddit uses this link as ingame name, we can try to get more attention by leading other players here. :)

I'm thinking of taking a break from OPTC for a while. At least until I get a good Legend to help me with endgame content like TS Luffy, Fujitora, or Akainu. It's getting kind of monotonous.
Maybe I'll do the next Colosseum, but I won't be farming it. I'm sick of doing it for every decent character.

its a shame that this thread "went down". used to be first on the popular section.
I just was thinking about pulling this magellan sugo, and suddenly I got mad and sad.
is that just me? Did "global" just gave up? is it done? rates gonna suck, and thats it? Does anyone even care anymore?
I'm really disapointed that nothing has been adressed, and gonna go all in on that sugo just so I can jump out of this game if "global rates" get me. OR I might pull something exciting and be happy for a few more weeks, who knows.

My beef with Bandai is I bought gems twice, got error twice, charged twice, and no gems twice. They got to rip me off before pulling Sugo lol. Support never did anything. Good thing Google refunded me.

Hey guys! The amount of 1* comments on Android increases every minute! You can look it up by selection recent votes. It dropped to 4.6 from 4.7, keep the comments and votes flowing.

C'mon guys let's like those 1star reviews at the App Store, let them know that OPTC global is rigged...

I cant see any of them?? It says the game has a 5 Star avg for me, is it possible to have reviews removed?
3
u/TendonCobar Sep 24 '17
No, they are definitely there, the default display is "most useful reviews", but if you switch it to newest, you can see that there are many 1-stars in the recent reviews.
For me the game has a 4.6 star avg, which is already 0.1 point less than before the reveal of the rates.
Still there is an extreme amount of 5 * revs, so it will need a lot of 1 * to have an impact.

Sorry mods but your mega thread decision wasn't good ... no momentum to our movement... atleast post update on regular basis

u/NeXoRaT Life and Earth belong to me Sep 29 '17
The thing is, there are no updates.
The only thing worth mentioning actually is that Bamco is censoring their facebook-page by deleting posts which mention the bade rates.
They give no concrete answers to support-inquiries, just the default-bullshit.
It's probably too early to see any consequences and a lot of people (see facebook) just don't care.

u/Abhiuday14kat Promising Rookie Sep 29 '17
That's very discouraging... do people don't understand they are being fucked over by bamco ... if not then they deserve these rates tbh ...

It isn't in the mods interest to actually let this thing happen. Apparently it was okay to flood the front page with poorly drawn fan art but not okay to openly criticize the game outside of a single thread lul

So I would like to say that, as a long time optc player, this is something I knew inherently and which is why I quit global and started playing on JPN about two months ago. The pull rates on JPN are noticeable, and extreme. Already have 11 legends on my new account, and I haven't even spent that much.
Just curious, how was it determined that this was only affecting global? Not that I would believe it was an issue on JPN, but just wondering.
Edit: I changed my GP rating to 1 star with a warning/explanation. I'm very glad that I made the switch to JPN, but still wanted to do my part. Bandai= shame.

u/pesaher Sep 23 '17
Because the Japan rates are public, and they differ widely from the recently discovered Global ones

u/vetic Bae Sep 23 '17 edited Sep 23 '17
Exactly the same with dokkan.
They were more or less forced due to japanese laws. Thats also the reason why they can not chance existing characters/ units .
The best example is goku black ( in dbzdokkanbattle).

All we can do is to try to keep up the pressure, spread the word for awareness and wait for Bandais response. I mean, one day passed after all, and we all know that Bandai is really slow.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a while for a response if we even get one since:
It is the weekend and I doubt that Bandai will work on the weekend. Why do you think the update is going to last 5 hours tonight and we are getting nothing important (as in new features) in this update.
I am certain that they would rather find a way to implement a way so that players could not access this information in the coming update to prevent this incident from happening again.
If they wait a while they might be able to shove it under the rug especially if they give the players something to distract them from this outrage.

We should get a thread going in order to rally everyone in the community to put 1 star on the app/play store so Bandai will fix our issues

Genuinely cannot believe the revelations in the last 2 days for us Global players. I'm shocked at how bad the rates are and that active players are penalised with even worse rates for playing. The amount I whaled at the 2nd anni now makes me feel physically sick.
