It wouldn't shock me one bit, especially considering the World Government's headquarters, where the Five Elders, God's Knights supreme commander, and Commander-in-Chief of the Marines operate, is literally called Pangea Castle. If the Red Line were to be shattered, we might end up with those smaller continental units you mentioned.

GOAT.

u/Orcas_are_badass Pirate Apr 26 '24
Imagine you’re talking about a rumor of a guy who broke into Vegapunk lab, and afterwards turned himself into a ship, and then Vegapunk tells the whole world they’re sinking into the ocean.
Those kids will believe Franky turned himself into a ship to survive the apocalypse, after reading Vegapunks notes, for the rest of their lives.

That Nico Robin moment was epic. It carries so much history in the story. The Strawhats were serious when they said they will never let anything happen to Robin again. And the fact that the weakest members of the crew are saying it in front of the scariest antagonist in OP makes it even better.

The final saga up against the Five Elders is literally the perfect time to be driving home just how important Robin is and how far the crew would and NEEDS to go to keep her safe. In a story that's spent a lot of years not fully actively engaging with the full scope of her threat to the world, THESE are the villains who would never forget that fact, and they are delivering the MAXIMUM impact from that sudden change in stakes.

Yeah that was easily the best part of the chapter imo. They don't really know anything about Ohara or what happened (other than what Shaka talked about at the beginning of the arc), but they can tell Saturn is after her and they have to protect her. Very cool moment for all of them, and it's nice that all the strongest members are elsewhere.

Oda just has this special ability to hit you with a crazy twist that in hindsight seems so obvious
All the set up with Water 7, the ark Noah, Mariejois built on the Red Line, even very recently the reports on the rising sea levels... he just had to connect the dots.
There is the longlasting theory of Luffy destroying the Red Line which would flood the whole world and create "One Piece" but it seems like it might actually be the other way around; Luffy having to prevent the world from being drowned by "defeating the seas".

So this raises a question as to what purpose the Noah serves, assuming that the engineers for it created it with the great flood in mind? Is it actually to aid Fishmen or is it meant to be piloted by Fishmen to aid the land dwellers? Furthermore, would the Skypieans also aid in helping the rest of the world come to the sky? So many societies connected with Joyboy and the Ancient Kingdom seem to be in positions to somewhat deal with the great sinking; this is thoroughly fascinating.

Safe to say Vegapunk's brain is super massive. Just the base alone is wider than an entire person. No wonder he had to lop it off.
Ha, even some pirates at Hachinosu are interested in what Vegapunk's gonna say.

Dude, seeing Vegapunk's gigantic severed head inside that tank is so weird. Very unsettling and creepy. I imagined it would just be the brain. The hair still being there and all...just super weird. But cool.
Sanji blocking the sword and kicking Nasujuro (even drawing blood) was pretty damn sick. love it. I assume (and hope) he's gonna be fine after being munched on.

Egghead is literally one of the best arcs of anything I've ever read, holy shit.
I thought we'd get the name of the ancient kingdom, but no, Oda never wants us to be able to predict what's coming, so of course that didn't happen. I should have learned after 16 years of reading weekly, but I still get fooled.
More than anything, the strawhats really feel like a yonko crew now that they're fighting the gorosei and Luffy straight dusted kizaru.
The brain reveal and decoy denden mushi was expected but still such a dope scene.
That sbs about how sanji's eyebrow represents ocean currents, how swirls are the nature of the world (call junji ito), and if they stopped, it would be chaos... The worldwide tsunami/flood theory is looking good right now, especially with Momo reading the log book and deciding not to break the walls around Wano without explaining why, because he knew it still needed to be elevated.
Water 7 and then thriller bark, then zunesha... We've been told for a while that people are preparing for a great flood. What if pirates originated in the first place because ships were one of the only ways to survive when there was no land, and that's why the poneglyphs are the only evidence of the void century, because everything else was wiped away?
11/10 chapter, everything I want in one piece.

Couple of thoughts.
That's why namis dream wasn't even mentioned once in 1000 chapters. There will be a whole new world map to draw when all is said and done. So far all she's done is cartograph some mountain tops.
Franky at water 7 was saying that the sea level is rising every year. Maybe it's not something imu can control at will. So when he said it's time for the great clensing, it wasn't because he wanted it but more like it's the time of the flood and prophecy.
So crocus modified a whale to live in at the grand line entrance and rayligh is a master boat coater in the middle. I bet my money that scooper gaban is living with his mermaid wife somewhere at the end. Them boys are prepared. Also shanks not having devil fruit users in his crew.
I got to go back and re read so many relevant passages.

Holy Land Mary Geois =One of the Few Areas Where Humanity Can Survive the Great Floods that Occur Every 800 Years. The tribe that rules this place can survive and dominate humanity thereafter."
The setup with elements like the underwater suits resembling those of the Celestial Dragons the Water Seven submerging into the sea, Noah's Ark on the Island of the Mermaids, and most of the main stages being located on high ground or flood-resistant islands suggests a substantial buildup for this particular scene.
It also makes sense why Gold D.Roger started Great Pirate Era.
;Upon learning the truth that World is sinking into the sea, he left testament about a treasure. This led to the era of great piracy, as people became pirates in pursuit of the treasure, navies emerged to counter them, and merchants capitalized on the trend by building numerous ships to prepare for potential disasters even if the world were to sink into the sea. If someone were to claim that the world is sinking into the sea before being executed, it would have been seen as absurd and would have been met with ridicule, as the world would not have been prepared for such an event, potentially leading to a global panic. Rayleigh's ship coating business is a evidence that he himself is also preparing for world sink event in his own way. The reaction of the members who went to Raftel upon hearing the news of Roger's execution, laughing while crying, indicates that they knew Roger, the king among pirates, made such a testament to save people worldwide.
How many years of buildup is this exactly?

Also suddenly remembering how literally the entire One Piece planet is just made up of scattered islands, with the Red Line being the closest thing to a continent they have (where Mariejoies is located at a very high altitude).

Calling it now; York has the broadcast inside her. This sounds like a crackpot, break week theory but hear me out;
Her role in the Vegapunks is eating and sleeping. If she's literally made to handle the food, restroom and sleep schedule of several other bodies. She's also one of the larger bodies, the reason she can't think straight on where it might be because she probably doesn't realize she's ingested a broadcast snail among the multiple meals she wolfed down earlier.
It also makes sense because it's telepathic signal is mixed with hers so Mars can't sense it. It also messes with the Gorosei's plans because either they kill her to stop the broadcast but lose a Vegapunk that can replicate the Mother Flame, or let her live and the World knows everything.

So people who aren't screwed by everything sinking:
Fishmen - Arlong and Hody were too early to enact their plans of running their own Fishman Kingdoms.
World Nobles & their slaves/employees - Literally living a top the highest point in the world below the clouds.
Skypeians/Anyone living in the White Seas - They will wonder why the blue sea seems closer then it usually does and then go back to doing their cloud related activities.
Enel on the Moon with those robots - Guy is so far from the planet that nothing related to it is his problem any more.

I think given that Pirates have been made to be villains and terrible people by the world government/navy, what is going to happen is that everyone, civilians a like, is going to have to become a pirate to be able to survive this great flood/the world government completely flipping the narrative that pirates are bad and therefore the king of the pirates is actually the ruler of the world and or all people. And this is what Roger laughed at, that after years of being chased as a villain because he was a pirate, that in the end everyone will end up being a pirate too

I think the whole thing about the one piece world is that all the islands are connected to each others and they used to be one piece , but cause of the rising water the only places remaining are the mountains of that giant piece of lands that are the actual islands

The real transponder snail is probably inside of York. Destroying her means the Elders can't recreate the Mother Flame. Vegapunk probably saw her betrayal ahead of time and used her as the snail vessel.

I know there’s a lot going on in this chapter, but can we just talk about the Panel where Nami, Chopper, Usopp and Brook protect Robin? For me the best panel of the chapter. That’s what the Strawhats have always been about. No matter what, even the weakest of the crew will put their life at stake when it’s needed. No f— hesitation. Legends!

I posted this as a reply to someone in the spoilers but it seems appropriate to post here too.
The Noah never made that much sense to me since fishmen don’t really have a need for an ark to take them to the surface but this chapter has me rethinking its purpose.
I think the Ancient Kingdom and the kings (or at least some of them) of the 20 allied nations knew that the world was sinking 800 years ago. The AK built the ark to take as many people of as many races as possible to the Red Line for safety but the allied nations wanted to keep the land exclusively for nobility which is what sparked their conflict. The common people fighting for the allied nations I’m sure would have been lied to about the reasons for this and have no idea they were really being sold out by their leaders.
I also think they didn’t actually know how long it would take otherwise the ark would still be pretty unnecessary, 800 years is ample time to move some people. Imu’s focus on recreating the Mother Flame is to speed this process up
Finally, the reason I think some and not all of the rulers of those nations knew the truth is because I believe Lili discovering it is what led to her betrayal. It’s reasonable that only Imu and the Gorosei themselves actually knew the whole story even back then (assuming they have been alive that long as many have speculated)
