That's because of the myth it's based on. "Itsumade" translates to "Until when" and it's referencing how the creature would fly over battlefields filled with corpses and cry "Until when... untill when...".
Oh, yeah, and the bird has a human-like face on top of its beak.

Kaku's been the best CP9 guy since Water 7 lol. He's always been, by far, the one with the biggest chance of redemption (or more like the only one I guess lol)
I'm quite convinced that at the end of the story he'll settle for a quiet life as a carpenter back in Water 7

“We can’t let emperor straw hat’s crew escape” on the first page goes so hard. The marines are panicking at the thought of an emperor blowing through their blockade, and Franky sleeping a vice admiral in one hit just validates their fear

88
u/PotatoMozzarella Apr 19 '24
My Theory is that "Animal-Color" Vice-admirals are the ones that are a level above regular VA and are closer to Admirals. (I'm referring to characters like Chaton, Momousagi, Kurouma)
Maybe the Admirals got these names because they were the Strongest VA before being promoted

Assuming it’s on Egghead, Vegapunk has thought far enough ahead to have a small time and for it to be broadcast upon his death, I find it highly unlikely that he only created one snail, as he probably made multiple to carry on the stream if ones is destroyed (killed?)

A plan to gain the Gorosei's trust.
Didn't Shaka also tell Dragon he was gonna die soon ? So Shaka knew he was gonna die and then York killed him. Wouldn't make sense. If he knew about York's betrayal, he should've done something. But if it was a plan all along for York to kill him, then it would make sense.

Have they, though? This seems pretty bad. They're up against the freakin' Five Elders!!! One of them just tanked a Red Roc like it was nothing and we've seen the others display absurd abilities, strength, and resilience too. It's looking pretty bleak...
Even with the giants there, they're still pretty fucked(did you see how easily skele-taur wrecked two of them?). I'd say having Vegapunk there and on their side is the only hope left. Brain Boi is definitely going to pull out some kind of insane nonsense, even beyond whatever's on that broadcast, imo.

Yes, i agree that somehow, some way, the straw hats and remaining vegapunks, outside of york of course, will find a way to get out of this one alive - i just dont know how, cuz of how bleak this current scenario is for them... unless Oda wants to go even further with Sabaody parallels, they MUST succeed

I know they sent this big of a force because of what's at Egghead, but also it's kinda crazy what it apparently takes to bring down a Yonko. Either an alliance of thousands of disciplined samurai, ninjas, powerful minks, and the best pirate crews in the world... Or a marine fleet led by an admiral and a Gorosei, apparently. I gotta wonder, how would the Straw Hats + the Grand Fleet fare in a situation where they had none of the Egghead stuff on their sides, but they were facing a raid similar to what happened at Onigashima?
Franky W. One shot a vice admiral. I mean, I know vice admirals are kinda fodder, but realistically they should be pretty strong. Like strong enough to fight the usual new world pirate, right? But they're dealing with a Yonko crew now lol.
Stussy referring to her task as "this final mission" is a bit ominous innit?
I wonder if Warcury is just that strong, or if he overpowered Luffy's haki with his own and then injected his Haki into Luffy? It's crazy if it's just that he's that strong, we've never seen that happen to someone before right? But it's time for people to accept that the Gorosei are really powerful. They're not just some old dudes.
Good on Usopp for drawing his slingshot against a Gorosei lol. I guess he doesn't know who that is but still, he's at least not hiding or running. Gotta defend the ship.

u/Electro522 Apr 19 '24 edited Apr 19 '24
So....I guess a quick recap of positions might be in order, because A LOT happened, and things got jumbled up.
Jupiter and Mercury are currently chasing and slowing down Luffy, Dory, and Broggy.
Venus has made it to the giant's ship, and is now staring down Franky, Bonney, and Atlas after quickly dealing with the couple of giants that were helping them (they feel the most screwed right now, and are in need of the most help). Remember, Sanji is still on the ground and is making his way towards them with Stella's body.
Saturn has somehow made it up to the Sunny in the Labo Stratum, and will likely be facing down Usopp, Nami, Brooke, Robin, Chopper, and Lilith. Zoro and Jinbe, the two most likely able to actually do something against Saturn, are currently on their way to the Sunny.
And finally, Mars has (supposedly) made it to the broadcast room thanks to the help of York.
Yeah, things looking kind of fucked right now. Oda certainly isn't making this easy.
The one question mark still left is the giant robot that emerged in 1111. I assume he's making his way towards Luffy since the "Drums of Liberation" awoke him.

I'll say this again.
Years after he witnessed the death of his friend and the destruction of Ohara because of their research, Vegapunk decide to do the exact same thing, a part of him even expected he'll be killed, so he prepared many tricks to defend himself.
While doing so, Vegapunk managed to pull not one, not two, but three tricks over the Gorosei head.
- Turn Kuma suicide button to a turn off button
- Gave bonney control over all the Pacifista's
- Broadcast the truth for all the worlds
For this Guy, the make a secret room in Punk Record, then put the transmitter Den Den Mushi simply there on the floor, without any other measures, is absurd.
That bearded Gorosei gonna leave that room as a shaved monkey, if he could leave to begin with.

I would forgive a lot of the seemingly very stupid decisions the World's Smartest Man has shown in this arc if this all is revealed to be an elaborate plan and triple-cross from York and other Vegapunks.
Crackpot theory time:
1) Studying Void Century would eventually lead to unwanted attention from WG and Gorosei, making them move against Vegapunk.
2) Having York as a "traitor" would place Vegapunk on the inside of the plan aiming to take him down.
3) The broadcast forces WGs hand, showing what their response is and potentially revealing their capabilities, as seen when the Gorosei showed up with a Buster Call.
4) Broadcast turns out to be live feed from Punk Hazard - showing the whole world the horrific nature of the WG and their leaders.
5) Profit?

I was definitely thinking VP intentionally added the 10 minute prep for video feeds specifically to show the Gorosei in their true forms, but didn’t consider him being the one behind Yorks “betrayal” until this chapter. I think you’re on to something here

He took Luffy’s Red Roc like it was nothing. The same red roc that brought Kaido to his knees

Dorry and Broggy are the best. No fear when facing three monsters and are keeping up with Luffy the whole way. They were introduced so long ago, good to see they are actually really strong and not just "Early Grand Line" strong.

The shadow on the eyes of the Elder in the last panel makes me think he's not liking what this current snail is projecting.. I think there's x2 streams, one to trick the Gorosei to come, and the stream broadcasted to the world switched over when they arrived showing their true forms on Egghead

hmm I think Vegapunk probably pulled off an Ozymandias stunt. The main reason he's so ostentatiously lounging about for 10 minutes is not to let people prepare their video snails, but to lure the elders and expose them along with the void century lore.
I'm guessing it's already been set in motion and can't be stopped by any means.

Great chapter. Weak trio setup against Saturn, common franky W, stussy/Kaku intrigue, potential Vegapunk brain reveal, plus only 1 min left on the message broadcast. This is why people need to wait until the translated scans come out, so many people just losing their minds in the spoiler thread…

It's been four chapters, and in those four we've had the other Gorosei show up, Dorry and Brogy crash the party, and the Iron Giant seemingly awake. Pacing is lightning speed still, it's just we've had some breaks.

wait, where did this narrative of york not being a traitor come from? you guys are really just making random theory without putting a single thought into it. just wanting a twist for the sake it.
none of this plot twist people been saying over the months would work because of one thing, they didn't know luffy would be there. without luffy and co (including the giants of course), things wouldn't have gone this way and all of them would've been dead long ago. including york who has stated that the gorosei would erase her too.
and VP was planning to run away at first. if they had succeeded, none of this would happen. so obviously this wasn't the plan.
and we literally saw york making her scheme with the seraphims.

People complaining about vice admirals being too weak. At the end of the day, you can work your way up the Navy, ranks don't represent power the same way the bounty doesn't represent pure strength.
The one thing about the Vice Admirals is that they all at least have 1 form of haki and maybe a devil fruit, but so do the Kuja Tribe and so did skypiea priests. If a skypiea priest put in 10 years in the navy in an important office commissioned role he could become a vice admiral.
We are following what is supposed to be the strongest pirates who can take on 2 yonko crews at once vs first time mentioned vice admirals some with no story feats besides being close enough to be called in for a buster call.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones that's happy that while Luffy can hang with the world's strongest he still isn't there yet. His Stamina has always been a problem. its very much like SS3 from Dragonball. Insane power-up, severe stamina restrictions.
It still paints Kaido in a good light when he fought for like 2 days against 20+ opponents. Keeps the Gorosei, Im, Shanks, etc all as threats and not just "Luffy is strongest no more tension"

We have the most inadequate fight pairings so far.
Zoro and Brook are closer to Saturn and Sanji to V Nasujuro.
Not that it matters since not even Luffy has been able to damage the five old monsters.

Setup chapter, good to see Luffy using something else other than Gear 5, but damn, that Red Rock knocked Kaido down and caused him to bleed from his mouth, but this Gorosei was unfazed. Not only that, Luffy reacted with pain, the last time this happened was when he was suffering after colliding with Katakuri.

a trap to force to show the Goreseis their hand. What is rather happening is Vegapunk is livestreaming the world what is happening in the island showing the world
