These people are goofy as fuck.

"I know what will make people take us seriously. Let's put on a bunch of purple and march around in the streets like some kind of cult."

People like to make fun of dudes who sit at home and play video games but that shit is so much more normal than these weird ass motherfuckers.

I gotta say the “Alliance of Magicians” at least seem like they can take a joke while looking like one. Can’t say the same about these guys.

This is why Scientology survives. On the surface, Scientology doesn't look like a cult. It is a cult, but they don't go around in the streets wearing stupid robes, so they don't look like a cult. These guys decided that they would openly parade in the streets looking as much like a cult as possible.

From my interactions with them they're not that fond of Africans or any black person that doesn't call themselves Hebrew.

As a Jewish person I’m guessing they wouldn’t be too hot on me either

753

Pretty sure they don’t think you’re even Jewish technically 😂

287

Yup. According to them, the actual Jews sailed to America and became black folks. There is so much wrong with that.

As an actual native american person I've argued and WILL argue with these motherfuckers because they don't get to be racist and try to erase me. Besides, I never once saw them at ceremony or helping with traditional gatherings. One of the last things I've heard is that what we consider native americans(me) came from Russia and are a conspiracy to erase black people. It's some of the dumbest shit I've heard. Fuck these racist twats.

It's Oakland, you plan your commute for bullshit like this

76

u/Sweaty-Feedback-1482 Aug 15 '24

lol I used to live and work in the Bay Area. The “what if x bullshit happens?” factor becomes muscle memory in the daily commute routine that I suspect that Bay Area commuters would actually (and counterintuitively) hold up pretty well in an apocalypse scenario.

87

u/runthruamfersface Aug 15 '24

Pre-pandemic I showed up 20 mins late for a job interview and I told them it was because BART was shut down. Nobody blinked an eye at that excuse and I got the job.

2.8k

u/LTFitness Aug 15 '24 edited Aug 16 '24

And goes without saying, white folks, or any mixed folks as well.

We had a Hebrew Israelite at work and this guy would spout the most wild hate to everyone, if you were mixed he’d ask “Is it your father or mother that’s black?”, and If the person said mother, he would say “Oh well, you’re not making it to the after life, sorry.”, all matter of fact like it was a normal thing to say.

If you ever cited a common bible verse of acceptance of all, he would always have some very strange, cult like, mental gymnastics to confidently describe to you that was wrong and how anyone who wasn’t black, and again, his definition of the “correct amount” of black, is not actually accepted in Christianity.

Someone finally shut him up by asking him for a DNA test that said 100% sub sarahan African (which would be rare for anyone in the United States) and that if it had a single percentage of any mix at all, to make sure he damns that fraction of himself to hell then…never heard him talk about it around that dude again lol.

We had one at my last job who seemed pretty chill too.... BUT; He got walked out for taking a picture up some woman's skirt out in the smoking area (she was in a raised part of the break area). Somebody that worked at another company at the same building took a picture of him taking a picture up her skirt. She would have never known as she was faced the other direction leaning against a rail, so probably would not have even been a "good" picture for the dude. Not all heroes wear capes. He was all mad at the other dude for taking the picture of him too, which is hilariously ironic.

That stems from an old tradition where back in the days you could only be sure of your lineage from your mother’s side.

17

u/-prairiechicken- Aug 15 '24 edited Aug 15 '24

They did this to Indigenous peoples under the Canadian government too. My mom, myself, and my grandma couldn’t get our Métis status cards until the ~1990s (when we straight up had our maternal lineage scrips) thanks to incredible Métis and First Nations women activists who motivated and changed legislature, specifically Mary Two-Axe Early and Bill C-31.

You “lost” your Indigeneity (or were meant to) and Indian rights thereof if your father wasn’t Métis, First Nations, or Inuit. It was another way to colonize and erase us.

They believe they are not only Christians, but the only Christians who are reading the Bible correctly, lol.

They believe that if you read the Bible you see that only people with a certain “level of blackness”, which as I understand it is fully sub Saharan African, are true the true Hebrews/jews/Israelites, and that only the true Israelites will go to heaven.

They have a way of interpreting all the text in the Bible to prove this is true, and reject any more common interpretations of the same Bible that mainstream Christianity believes.

I don’t really know! I know she’s “submissive” to her husband but when I tried to ask her actual questions about her religion her response was “do your research.” Like girl I’m asking you because you should know lol.

83

u/cailian13 Aug 15 '24

Anytime someone says to "do my research" instead of answering fairly simple questions about their organization/position, I know I can just disregard them, if they cannot even say two sentences about the subject they're expecting me to agree with them on.

59

Reasons range from Promisicuity, aggressiveness, lack of submission to a husband, sleeping outside of the race, abortion, and being too independent.

The absolute wildest reason was that apparently back in the early to mid 1900's, we pushed the (good, loyal, faithful) black men out of the household in order to get welfare from the government. Something that if you critically thought about it for longer than 10 seconds, doesnt make a bit of fucking sense.

It either could be from one of the books that didn't make it to the Bible (my favorite one is the Gospel of Judas, Jesus says some Hella interesting stuff in that gospel, and it's dated to about 50 AD), or they could just be making it up whole cloth.

In downtown dc they stand on crates and literal soapboxes and just yell at people walking by. If you're a woman, or lgb, or white, or basically anyone but a straight black man, they will chastise you as if you're wrong to exist. I hate them so mf much.

u/festival-papi ☑️ Aug 15 '24

So, like regular on-brand misogyny like "kitchen and the bedroom" type shit or like a neo-hotep fusion?

19

u/goreprincess98 Aug 15 '24

Both. Women are supposedly made to support their man, we're the rib, etc.

34

u/kheperas Aug 15 '24

I'm light skined af, like max character slider. Every time they see me they remind me I'm a sin.

23

u/Dez_Acumen Aug 15 '24

They yelled at me and my husband about premarital sex once as we were walking down the street holding hands. It was hilarious.

11

A woman I went to high school with converted because of her mother and it’s so bizarre. It seems so oppressive but she seems happy? It gives cult with the sole purpose being to convert others, but from my understanding only a handful of them will be selected anyway. I really don’t understand them, but maybe it’s not meant for me to understand.

There’s an organization in my old neighborhood made up of men like myself grew up in the neighborhood and helping the young people and helping with our elders and what not and helping clean up the community. Few years ago, we had an annual car wash, and fan giveaway to Anybody who needed a fan during the summer. As we were working our car wash and fan giveaway a few of them showed up and we’re on a couple street corners with their microphones talking thier mess. THEN they decide to come over to us and try to preacher prophesies to us while we’re cleaning peoples cars to raise money for our community and finally we were like “ We’re trying to help our community and if you really want to help pick up a sponge or water hose and get to washing”. Then they went back to the corners but we finally had to run them out because they started disrespecting a woman who while is in the streets, she’s part of community and doesn’t bother anyone and so we convinced them it was best they keep it pushin. Never thought I’d have to that other black men but they were annoying as hell.

I'm a white guy who lives and works in a predominantly black area.

I'm the type to have honest conversations with people about race and racism and a lot of times, I'll surprise black folks with how straightforward I am about shit. I've never had anyone accuse me of racism until...

I had these two cats working for me who were caught up in this ho tep bull shit.

The dude had so many false ass conspiracies that he would spout off. He told me LeBron james was illuminati and that the only reason he's so good at ball is because they have the ring expand when he shoots.

The day he called the race card on me was because I told him to get up out of the chair because we had work to do. He went off about being a grown ass man and how he was going to call HR with claims of racism. I told him that with those kinds of accusations floating around , I would call them myself and pull out my phone.

He started hemen and hawen and said no, we're cool.

I had been looking out for the guy before that. If he was a few minutes late or whatever nut, I stopped looking out for him after that, and he was fired shortly after...

u/sirloinsteakrare Aug 15 '24

I honestly never heard of these weirdos but looking them up I guess they're some crazy off branch of Judeaism that considers themselves fhe only real hewbrews or some dumb shit.

Unsurprisingly they also have a rep for being super sexist, homophobic, and racist, and treating their wives like **** and using their religious activities as an excuse to not get jobs.

Edit: okay so apparently these guys aren't a offshoot of judiam despite claiming to be Hebrew and are also violently anti-semite? Do these guys huff paint as a religious practice?

76

u/NukeGuy Aug 15 '24

Not really a branch of Judaism, there are a lot of "new-age" religions that co-opted Jewish scripture while not having anything to do with Judaism itself - it's in the basket with Messianic Judaism and them

There is a Black-Jewish community, and there is a Black Hebrew Israelite community. They are not the same. Black Hebrew Israelites are various non-ethnically homogeneous African American groups that claim descent from the Tribe of Judah, thereby making them Israelites. The religion they practice though is not a version of Judaism, but mostly Christianity with Jewish influences.

Black-Jews are typically ethnically Jewish, but their ancestors migrated to African countries and mixed with the local population. They are still ethnically Jewish however, and are eligible for Israel’s right of return citizenship law. Black Hebrew Israelites cannot prove their claims, therefore they do not qualify. There are also a minority of black converts to Judaism proper, they don’t count towards the law of return but are still Jewish.

The type of Christianity that Black Hebrew Israelites practice is very strict and relies heavily upon the Laws of the Old Testament. They also tend to have very racist and sexist views in line with their interpretation of the Law. The exact practices that they have are varied, there are various denominations that fall under “Black Hebrew Israelite”.

10

u/beigeskies Aug 15 '24

They are definitely NO "branch of Judaism" lmao. They are raging antisemite conspiracy theorist psycho cultists. Nothing more or less.
