So she hates trans people more than she cares about everyone else? Usually with billionaires, the issue is them liking themselves more than they care about everyone else.
205
u/interfail Aug 15 '24
She appears to care more about hating trans people than anything else in her life.
She doesn't have a jetski, or an animal sanctuary, or a classic car collection or a podcast or whatever it is you'd do with your time if you became a billionaire. She just sits on Twitter all day, every day, searching for trans people with 5 followers to harass.

u/darling_lycosidae Aug 15 '24
Her transphobia is definitely still narcissistic, she doesn't want to "share" her identity as a woman. At the end of the day it's just internalized misogyny (and racism) that made her mad that a ripped as fuck athlete didn't meet her beauty standards.

u/GoldenEyeOfHorus ☑️ Aug 15 '24
I will never understand this not wanting to "share" femininity. Is it a pie? Is there a sale? It's not running out, there's enough for everyone and then some that identifies as such.

I used to think that she was the exception to "there are no good billionaires," but it turns out that money really does break people's brains, no matter who they are
33
u/FllngCoconuts Aug 15 '24
Yvon Chouinard might be the exception. He was the founder of Patagonia and recently structured the company so that essentially all of its profits go to environmental charities.
Apparently Forbes listed him as a billionaire because of Patagonia’s valuation and it pissed him off, so he found a way to give the company away without going public.
The whole thing is fascinating and worth a read if you have time.

With me you'd know I would still be alive because it'd become a game for me to post DJ Khalad-esque videos where the recording starts with me doing something like riding my jetski. The very next post I'm in a haunted house, still in my swim trunks and life preserver. Acting like I don't know how I got to this place between my past video and this. It abruptly ends with some babaduke crank noises and it cuts off. It goes 3 days then my next post is just me promoting my new wizards of hogfort book and I never address the the others again. This cycle repeats as I use more of my wealth to setup fantastical scenarios for me to show up in every 3 to 6 months on social, then my new plug, then back to silence.

A quick Google search shows that there are over 3000 billionaires in the world. A decent majority of them aren't that media prominent. I could probably name about a dozen or so billionaires and they're just the ones that make a point of being in the news and/or being so overtly cuntish that it's impossible to not know who they are.
I'm with you. If I had that kind of wealth I'd just vanish and live my life.

She didn't even have to post anything. If I was her I would fuck off to a small island nation with attractive women and a rich national cuisine and no one would ever fucking hear from me again. With that much money you could live off of investments for the rest of your life and it would be very hard to spend even the percent you make a year. Somehow she decided that the best way to spend her money would be to live in a decaying Scottish castle and spend her time exactly like I do.

She could have paid 500 people to pretend to be on social media full time in her own private corner of the internet and said whatever she wanted without consequence for the rest of her life with that kind of money. It's astronomical amounts of money. She could have paid a team to live only to make sure she never sees a piece of media that talks about trans folks.
She's just so full of hate and bullshit that she can't stop herself.

That's what I thought too for a while. Then I realized that if I had the platform and means, wouldn't I lobby and speak out for what I believed in and valued? And we do celebrate celebrities who speak out for values we agree with. She chose the wrong hill to die on, and she's using her platform to cause harm instead of good, but I can understand not just shutting up and enjoying your money and leaving the world to do what it wants. But again, she needs to reevaluate what she's using her platform for regardless of her intentions.

JK Rowlings is a victim of sexual assault who hates men so much, she will attack whoever SHE thinks is a man.
Her entire professional career (at least the successful part) she has been told what a wonderful and creative lens she views the world through... so you wonder now why she is incapable of seeing the world through any other?
People need to understand the success and praise she received for Harry Potter has directly led to a person so stubborn and hateful that she is incapable of separating her trauma and bigotry from an entire vulnerable minority.
The very idea that a (her words) biological male, could identify as someone more vulnerable than her, is an attack on the very fabric of her reality. This is a life or death fight for JK. It isn't some pass time, "Oh I will toss some hateful remarks out on social media". It is a fight for her most core beliefs. And that is what makes her particular level of ignorance and bigotry so dangerous. She legitimately believes herself to be the hero.

She was still spouting off that shit and people were making and buying her games and having movies made, albeit those subsequent Fantastic Beats movies suck.
Like people still like Harry Potter and most aren't online seeing her crazy shit. That ten-year-old picking up the first Harry Potter book isn't scrolling twitter first trying to figure out if they should support the author or not.

That doesn't matter. She had already been saying inflammatory shit by that point, they didn't care. The movies were abandoned because they were bad, not because Rowling didn't believe in trans people. They even made a game that sold really fucking well. Like Again this isn't me supporting her view but you all really gotta realize the real world is fifty shades of gray. People still buy iPhones and Nikes knowing they are made by child labor, all it took was those companies saying "we are against child labor and we check our suppliers, believe us." Even blood diamonds, the "organization"' that certifies diamonds aren't blood diamonds is literally just made up of the companies that ship the diamonds and works on a believe us system. The difference between those instances and Rowling is that they got press coverage, most you're getting on Rowling's tweets are some digital articles.
Does your Nestle chocolate bar taste any less sweet knowing child labor was involved in its sourcing?
19
u/DeltaVZerda Aug 15 '24
Some of us stopped going to her movies and buying her games because she showed who she is, and even some of us actually don't buy Nestle or Nike. There's a reason 'fair trade' is worth printing on a chocolate bar, because for some people, the slavery does make the taste not worth it.
→ More replies (1)10
u/DirtySilicon ☑️ Aug 15 '24 edited Aug 15 '24
And that is good, that is really good, but you have to see that everything I listed is still incredibly profitable. Apple still has an active cultlike hivemind of a userbase, Nestle is one of the largest companies in the world despite poisoning babies and taking people's water, and Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million copies in two weeks and broke a billion in sales its first year. I'm glad to see people standing on business but you are vastly outnumbered and that is the point of my comments.
Edit: some grammar
10
u/DeltaVZerda Aug 15 '24
The point of mine is that people like me aren't a tiny group of people, fair trade chocolatate is more than twice as large of a market as it was 5 years ago. Those large companies are actually losing money because of people taking moral opposition to them, and the damage they have already done to their brand will hurt them for a long time. Times are changing, and people are getting smarter about where there stuff comes from and what it costs the world. We're all going to have to change if we're going to have a world in the next century.
→ More replies (2)4
u/DirtySilicon ☑️ Aug 15 '24
That still isn't exactly stopping Nestle. I believe in the cause, but I'm also not delusional to think Nestle won't ride out not negotiating fairly until it's less profitable to do so. The biggest reason these companies do this stuff is because it's cheaper. I'm not sure how that goes against what I said, though. These companies won't go down because of it and Rowling will keep making money regardless. They even are making a new Harry Potter TV series. 🤷🏿♂️

So there’s always been some massive red flags in her books.

Even in the books she's like "no not them tho." Her bigotry is on full display:
-banker goblins (Jewish coded)
-elves (love slavery/servitude, don't want freedom, the narrative treats Hermione condescendingly for trying to change the "natural order")
-Rita Skeeter (described with transphobic language, frequently allusions to her large hands and jaw, fake hair, and propensity to change into small creatures to spy on kids illegally)

Both are biological advantages that nevertheless do not disqualify them from competition.

And what they can't naturally do, they've trained their entire lives to do the rest of it. 1v1, Khelif could more than likely beat the brakes off some grown men out there. Watching people fumble their legacy is hilariously sad to watch.

All this gets worse when she isn't even a trans woman. Definitely not saying the hate would be justified if she was trans. But at this point these people are being bigoted at a fellow cis person lol.

I watched rugby sevens during the Olympics and 90% of them are more ‘masculine’ looking than Imane. What quality of her’s is making her such a target, hmm🤔

It's what she's worked so hard for. Kind of sad though. I wrote a report on her in high school saying I wanted to write a book as amazing as hers one day. Those books took me away from a pretty awful childhood & gave me a safe non-Jesus-related reason to leave the house at least 7 times! I was very appreciative of her work & idolized her as a child.
As an adult, I'm not interested in anything she does or says.

How hard is it for a millionaire to just keep their thoughts to themselves and keep the money coming in? Very hard apparently

No. She’s still referred to as the author of Harry Potter. One tweet doesn’t change that

I hope she gets a huge settlement that will allow her to pursue her sport without ever having to worry about funds.

It took her attacking cis woman for the larger media spectrum to call her a transphob, which is wild

She could have just shut up and been a beloved figure for the rest of her life, with her being remembered for her books.
Instead, we get this.
also, the HP books are super weird when you take a few minutes to examine them.

All she had to do is be quiet and enjoy her money and her MILF status, but Nooooo, let's be transphobic instead! Definitely is a frequent customer of Super Weenie Hut Jr's

I was talking with a group of friends about how it is nuts how much her reputation changed over 10 years,
She used to be considered respectable, Progressive, Unproblematic, An inspiration towards women,
Now she is seen as Racist, Homophonic, Pathetic in her middle age, And now people have evaluated her books and now they are seen as less good than they used to be

If she wasn’t rich with power she would have kept her mouth shut, money lets you say what you want with very few consequences.

I think 99% of people who aren’t terminally online don’t really care about her opinion and don’t associate Harry Potter with any of her comments.

The Harry Potter books meant a lot to me. Ron's entire story of being the absolute most normal, basic person within the wizarding world and ending up getting the girl and saving the day in a very important way is something I really held on to. In most "chosen one" stories the chosen one can get it done by himself and all of his friends are just along for the ride but Harry was actually useless if it wasn't for Ron and Hermione. The fact those two became a couple felt great.
And that's not even going in to the mistreatment of werewolves, minotaurs, house elves and all the other constant "it's okay to be yourself" stories that line the series. Over and over again self centered hateful adults ignore or abuse children and they repeatedly stood their ground that it was important to be yourself, to be free and to be kind.
And it was written by such a hatefilled bitch who is more obsessed with strangers genitals than the most porn addicted basement dweller in the world.
It hurt to let go of important stories but there's plenty of others out there for people to be inspired by. If she's going to ignore the lessons in her own story, she can't be helped.

This is how you tarnish someone's legacy. We need to start titling articles that devalue people's shit ideologies.
"Known brainwashing cultists leader Alex Jones"
"6 time bankruptcy champion and former real estate developer [oh and former president] Donald J. Trump."

When I was reading Harry Potter at the age of seven I never imagined it’s beloved writer would someday be sued by a female professional boxer for bullying. Heck back in 2004 no one would have thought it possible for a fantasy nerd to bully a real life professional fighter. Life is weird man.
