Country Club Thread "I know Donald Trump's type"
2.5k
u/Vitaminpartydrums Jul 23 '24
If they debate she should just refer to him as Defendant Trump
725
u/rudebii Jul 23 '24
I don’t get to write a lot about trump since he hasn’t been in office, but when I do I mix it up and refer to him as “convicted felon” or “twice impeached” former president Trump. My editors let it slide every time and we get a comment about having TDS and how we’re typical media talking trash once in a while.
But both are factually true, and his campaign used his conviction to fundraise, even made merch!
→ More replies (6)131
u/DreadnaughtHamster Jul 23 '24
You could string them together and run with “twice-impeached convicted felon” trump.
→ More replies (2)132
u/rudebii Jul 23 '24
I’ve done that too!
I also recently compared Trump to Logan Paul, after the former appeared on the latter’s show.
I wrote that both were pro wrestlers, like to scam their fans, and seem to get away with everything with no consequences.
I was also fair to Paul and noted he never incited an insurrection.

Trump WILL NOT DEBATE her, his cognitive abilities are faded pretty badly. He was nodding off in the middle of the convention in room with 20k people yelling. Doddering Donald is str8 food in a Q&A with a former DA.
She will eat him alive.
345
u/rudebii Jul 23 '24
We all know that.
BUT
Trump can’t show weakness or fear, it’s not on-brand. It would also raise the question of why, and I don’t see there being a good excuse coming from Cheeto Mussolini.
Then again, Trump defies logic and rationality on an existential level. So who the fuck can really say what Trump will or won’t do?
57
u/njuffstrunk Jul 23 '24
I don’t see there being a good excuse coming from Cheeto Mussolini.
He'll just say the debates are rigged by the mainstream media and refuse to participate. He never participated in GOP debates either if I recall correctly so why should he now

Trump WILL NOT DEBATE her
All she has to do is ask if he's afraid to face her in a debate, what business does he have being president and do we really want a coward afraid to debate her to be president?
Trump would implode over it but his pride won't allow him to back out.

Instead of some old dude looking confused because he heard a lie or some snide shit and is too slow to know you have to come back at it.

u/rudebii Jul 23 '24
Both campaigns agreed to two presidential debates, and trump has said he’d like to debate the next democratic candidate after Biden announced he’d drop out.
I doubt trump sees Harris as a weaker opponent than Biden, but he also can’t show weakness, especially against a woman of color. My money is on a Harris v Trump debate, but just one.
The two campaigns haven’t come to an agreement on a VP debate. Trump has been wanting to wait until after the convention to agree to anything. Trump’s campaign also proposed the VP debate be hosted by Fox News but Biden’s campaign has sad it wouldn’t agree to that, wanting CBS to host it.
But trump is also a liar and convicted felon, so who knows?
→ More replies (7)41
u/SpicyPossumCosmonaut Jul 23 '24
Biden + Trump scheduled one more, so it is likely that Harris will take Biden place but it has not been officially determined. Either candidate (realistically Trump) could pull out, but that’d be a bad look so they’ll probably debate then.

This is such good messaging. Honestly couldn’t ask for a better first viral soundbite to categorize the race at this point. It sounds and looks so informed by the current media language.
It’s clear that the party had a roadmap for how Kamala could be elected, it can work, and it’s the most emotionally compelling narrative the left has had since 2008.
ETA: it’s weird, but looking at the profile made me more excited because OP seems like the kinda person I would wanna have a beer (or a meal [I’m cool w a vegan place], THC seltzer, ephemeral chat in the park or a heated discussion about AI on the bus) with.
These are the people that need to be active in order to ensure we move forward and it feels like we’re all going the same way bc we recognize the stakes. That’s good.

It's arguable Obama (a black man) is what created this monster and fitting a black woman ends it.
728

It was trump’s seething hatred from seeing a Black man as president that started it all.
Still, a fitting end to the Trump trilogy. I laughed, I cried. It was better than Cats.
69
u/BlatantConservative Jul 23 '24
Trump had a more personal thing with Obama, even before the WHCD.
What's interesting to me is he hated Reagan in the same way and he intentionally reversed tons of Reagan policies.

Obama utterly humiliated Trump in the White House Correspondant's Dinner.
I mean, it was nothing more than a bit of light banter, but you could see Trump's fragile little ego shatter before his eyes.
154
u/rudebii Jul 23 '24
That came after Trump started with the whole birther thing, if I recall correctly.
Still though, you’re right. A black man humiliated him and got everyone to laugh at him, in the same room!

the narrative is already that they want a fox "news" debate (to which harris should obviously never agree). they will say "i wanted to debate her but the evil democrats wanted fake news "org X" to hold the debate and the rules are not agreeable so i can't debate her" and "she is too scared to debate me on fair terms"
so the equivalent of an "alpha" counting on his buddy to hold him back while he postures against somebody.
